The Lok Sabha, which literally translates to ‘House of the People’ is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament, the upper house being the Rajya Sabha. It has the power to pass bills on legislative, financial, executive, constitutional, electoral as well as judicial matters.’The Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha’, as well as occasional ‘Directions issued by the Speaker’ regulate the procedure in Lok Sabha.
Transgenders have lived through most of modern history as social pariahs. Until recently, there had been little systemic accomodation of this community. This changed with supreme court's historic judgement to recognise them as people of a third gender. A certain “Transgender Rights Bill” was proposed in the Rajya Sabha, which was passed after much political dialogue and discussion. However, upon being tabled in the Lok Sabha, it was amended as “The Transgender Persons Bill” to a virtually unrecognizable extent. Hence, this winter session the Lok Sabha shall convene to argue issues of much humanitarian consequence like the right to self identification of gender, medical tests for gender determination, reservation for transgenders, hate speech as a criminal offence and a plethora of other intricate issues.
The General Assembly (GA) is the main policy making and representative organ of the UN. Decisions on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority. Decisions on other questions are by simple majority. Each of the 193 member states of the United Nations has equal representation. The Assembly adopts its own rules of procedure and elects a President for each session.
Mass surveillance gains ever increasing popularity among governments of various countries as a possible aid for fighting terrorism, preventing crime and resolving social unrest. Concurrently, it begets a certain vibe of mistrust between the administration and the citizens. More often than not, this practice ends up breaching the right to privacy of its subjects. With no standardized set of rules in place to overlook organizations exercising surveillance, there is a need for collective initiation to protect the rights of civilians. UNGA shall do precisely that by bringing together various countries to deliberate on the same in hope of homogenous and liberal laws.
The working of the Economic and Social Council includes coordination of fourteen UN specialized agencies, ten functional commissions, and five regional commissions. Its purview extends over 70 percent of the human and financial resources of the entire UN system. The Council consists of 54 member states which are elected by the General Assembly for three-year terms. The Council holds a four-week substantive session each July, alternating between New York and Geneva.
Secession of the UK from the EU is in a crisis. With around four months left to negotiate, both the parties involved must hasten dialogue lest they should end up without a deal. The Westminster Parliament persists in its indecision. Peace in Northern Ireland, sovereignty of Scotland, and livelihoods of millions of people are some of the many things that are being put at stake by this secession. With the prospect of a social conflict and international trade being in jeopardy, ECOSOC shall convene to make this transition as harmonious as possible.
The Secretary General of the IITG Model United Nations, Paridhi is a cheerful person with an aura of innocence, yet she manages to hold the impulsive team together. She is a prolific writer with a blog of her own and possesses an impressive taste in literature as well. Swimming comes naturally to her along with an insatiable propensity for adventure specifically rowing boats in savage seas or little lakes. Her ideas are quite out of the this world and she speaks her mind with enchanting intricacies amusing everyone who are able to understand them. Paridhi’s contribution to this team over the past two years is unparalleled and the team is blessed to have a such an amazing person among them.
From being the Coordinator of Logistics to USG Administration, for three years, Saurabh has been a pillar among the many, for the team. This hard working chap, with a profound knowledge of international relations and political dynamics has a zest for expression and writing. His understanding of working a team makes him a leader one would follow. Work aside, he loves Sufi Poetry and Classical rock - hand him a guitar, and you wouldn't be disappointed.
Having been a core in the International Press, this man is the literary and contemplative dynamite of the team. Reserved and polite, he may seem, Krishna is the go-to-guy for anything you want to 'think' about. His love for writing is unmatched, ability for it uncontested. Technically and academically gifted, he loves research. One of the most fun people, once you know him well enough, he has a passion for science-fiction and high-fantasy, explaining his love for anime.
A Logistics and Public Relations maestro, Shobhit gets work done.A multi-tasker as he is, he is the man in the hour of need. An avid MUNner, he takes great interest in national politics and domestic debate. A guitarist and player of chess and, as he likes to improve at being in his free time, Mr. Do-it-all has more to him than meets the eye. And ladies beware - his chivalry is smoother than a satin wipe.
Although a new member of the family, Deekshith is the king of the technical side of the MUN. Quite literally in fact, as he heads the tech team, leading the webOps and conference app operations. He's a jolly guy, hidden beneath a serious skin. The opposite, at times, making him a blend of joy and work, and lame puns therefore.
Working behind the scenes, Vishal is the one who makes things seem easy. He's been involved in many things, ranging from research to creatives, during his time in the team. The extremely friendly and caring guy that he is, also makes him a fun guy to hang out with. A very enthusiastic writer, he is quite a linguist himself - knowing German and little Danish too. The love for music is what keeps his spirits up.
A goldmine of abstruse and transcendental ideas, Sanchit is a true mechanical engineer (without the girl issues though). Gifted with an exceptional dexterity for creative thinking, he’s ingenuity is strikingly visible in his work. Whether it's his intelligent articles or his academic tasks. A big guy by all standards, he is a basketball fan and tries his hand with the ball from time to time. A passionate music lover, he has a knack for playing the violin as well.
The undisputed quizzing champion of IIT Guwahati, Shubhang is not someone you'd want to challenge when it comes to knowing facts and figures. He also has a strange urge to genetically modify stuff. His keen interest in football is reflected in the way he idolises Lionel Messi and thoroughly enjoys classic rock and Led Zeppelin. There's definitely so much more to him than what meets the eye. Above all, the quality one would admire the most is how he'll always go out of his way to help someone.
The unquestionable Mafia champion of the team, you just cannot defeat Tejal in an argument. Always with an amusing reply on the tip of her tongue, her innate smartness is conspicuous in her work as writer. An intense blend of acute reasoning and flawless language, her articles are a joy to read. Tejal, being a staunch supporter of Equal Rights, considers herself a Feminist. Although her witty retorts might prove fatal at times, Tejal is the most convivial person you’ll ever meet. Possessing an overwhelming love for animals and quite an idiosyncratic gait, Tejal peculiarly identifies herself with a Mobius strip.
Vijayant, the astronomy wizard of our college, is quite the ladies man. You're sure to be at the edge of your seats when this one strums a guitar. He's really one to stand out in a crowd (given how tall he is, of course). A self-proclaimed weirdo, Vijayant plays a wide spectrum of sports skilfully, football and tennis for starters. Also, he has a black belt in Karate so you kinda don't want to mess with him.
A tech and robotics geek, Shwetank is an exemplary engineer. Brilliant with the keyboard, whether it's writing insightful articles or running hefty algorithms. His profound grasp of world politics makes him an invaluable part of our team. However, he is not all computer and codes. He’s a voracious Sci-Fi reader and has a taste for thrillers, especially with plots centered around narcotics. When stumbled onto doors leading to ingenious agendae, he's the one who knocks.
The team's newbie, Sangam's surprisingly extensive research with agendae has been enriching to the discussions that followed. Lazier than you could ever be, his devil-may-care attitude makes him an accidental clown. With a newfound zeal to explore himself, he involves himself in whatever opportunity pops up. The typical cricket fan, he also takes a lot of interest in biking.
A new yet valuable addition to the team, Sujal is the guy for every job. Whether it’s research for the agendae or strategic extensive branding. Seemingly a bit naive at first glance, he has a vast experience as an administrator. His dedication towards fulfilling every task thrown at him is unparalleled. An avid cricket and anime fan, he has a good hand with the ball (no pun intended).
The latest addition to the family, Prasanna has an innate swagger that's hard to miss as well as notice. Silent and a bit shy, he's a very creative guy. He's diligent with his work and more punctual than most. An ardent anime fan, he's quite a gamer too. Most unconventional of all, he is a rapper, and you just might be in luck to hear him go.
A god in machine learning and the proudest Delhite, Vrishank (Bro) is a part of the Webops team, and is a surprisingly eccentric person who loves to procrastinate. His puns aren't punny at all so one should steer clear of him in social gatherings to avoid mental trauma. His best talents include swimming, coding and eating a lot of food. He likes reading a lot and has a peculiar interest in the suez canal .Generosity and politeness make up for his lack of humour.
A programming genius, Vedant “the Nice guy” Chakravadhanula a.k.a. “VC” is a part of the Webops team of the IITG MUN, and is probably the most humble person you’ll ever meet. He has an amazing sense of humour which entices both men and women. Speaking of women, Vedant has a lot of them apparently. Vedant has a striking resemblance to the legendary musician, Snoop Dogg, physically and they share the same passions too. Despite of that the team would be incomplete without him. Vedant likes going an extra mile everyday, especially on Wednesdays.

A fanatic Chelsea fan, you’ll find Chetan glued to the screen whenever the Blues take to the lavish greens. Chetan quenches his thirst for daily humour from Rick and Morty and would kill for that schezwan sauce.
